Par où commencer?​

• As-tu déjà passé beaucoup de temps à la campagne?

• Vas-tu supporter le calme de la campagne ou le bruit des animaux?

• Qu'en est-il des odeurs des engrais agricoles ?

Si ton rêve est de vivre a la campagne, mais que tu te sens tellement dépassé(e) par tous les livres, les magazines, et les sites Web remplis de toutes sortes d’opinions et de projets que tu as l’impression de ne pas savoir par où commencer. 

Alors la prochaine fois que l’on nous posera la question « Par où commencer? », voici ce que nous dirons:

1. A quoi veux-tu que ta vie ressemble?

• As-tu une vision? 

• Te vois-tu travailler à domicile? 

• Te vois-tu cultiver tes propres légumes ou toute ta nourriture? 

• Veux-tu vivre dans une maison neuve ou dans une ancienne maison à rénover? 

• À quoi ressemble ta journée idéale? 

2. Quelle est ta plus grande priorité?

• Est-ce d'avoir 6 mois de réserves alimentaires?

• Est-ce que c'est de travailler à la ferme?

• D'avoir des animaux?

• Devenir totalement autonome?

3. Pourrais-tu vivre ton rêve là où tu es?

La question peut sembler un peu étrange, puisque nous parlons de déménager a la campagne.

Dis-toi bien que tu peux faire pousser BEAUCOUP de nourriture sur un terrain urbain, sans parler d’un terrain de banlieue.

Sais-tu que tu peux même jardiner à l’intérieur toute l’année ou sur un balcon, si tu ne possèdes pas encore de terrain.

• Jette un coup d'œil à n'importe quel site web consacré à la permaculture, à la mini ferme ou à l'agriculture biologique intensive et tu verras ce qu'il est possible de faire dans un petit espace. 

• Oublie les pratiques traditionnelles de jardinage en linéaire, et tu verras ce que tu peux faire. 

• Ton emploi est-il transférable?

  Ou devrais-tu changer de travail pour quelque chose au sein de ta future commune, ou développer ta propre entreprise?

• As-tu des problèmes de santé?

  As-tu des problèmes de santé dont il faut tenir compte lorsque tu commences à prospecter les lieux éventuels? On oublie souvent de prendre en compte les aspects médicaux lors de la recherche d'une maison de campagne.

• Qu'en est-il de l'école?

  Feras-tu l'école à la maison ou puiseras-tu dans les ressources éducatives locales?

6. Examine ton budget

Repense à tes priorités énumérées aux points 1 et 2 ci-dessus.

Sache que le coût de la vie à la campagne sera différent de celui à la ville – pas nécessairement plus et pas nécessairement moins – cela dépendra des investissements que tu devras faire au départ (outils, machines, terrain, rénovations, etc.).

 

Mais, par expérience, nous pouvons d’or et déjà te dire que tes dépenses pour les plats à emporter, les vêtements et les « trucs » dont tu n’as pas vraiment besoin diminueront considérablement, car tes possibilités de faire du shopping seront considérablement réduites.

 

Tu devrais maintenant avoir une idée assez précis:

 

• de l'endroit où tu serais le plus heureux(se)

• de ce que tu peux te permettre

• de ce que tu comptes faire sur le plan financier

• de ce que tu comptes faire sur le plan scolaire, etc.

Il ne te reste plus qu’à trouver ce bien!
